Brother Burger and The Marvellous Brew
Yet another quality burger joint in Melbourne, Brother Burger and The Marvellous Brew marks its difference by serving up 100 per cent Wagyu beef patties (from Mayura Station in South Australia) and Australian (and NZ) independent craft beer.
While takeaway is available (for a ten per cent discount), Marcelo Tummino (who was the man behind The European and The Supper Club) strongly encourages you to take a seat at the bar, and enjoy the diner in all its glory.
The eatery has a nostalgic, industrial vibe: the re-purposed workbench from Geelong West Tech School and retro aqua-coloured bar stools from the Green Gully Soccer Club in Keilor Downs, as well as exposed brick and recycled-wood surfaces build a surprisingly comfortable environment.
There are good alternatives. but as you’d expect, the burger is the hero. The Jane is anything but, with a juicy Wagyu pattie, lettuce, pickles, mayo and house-made tomato sauce on a house-made bun. Things get fancier with the Royal Blue (enter blue cheese and bacon) and a handful of other winning combinations.
There's also a wild chicken wing menu featuring sherbet wings; "bogan" wings with a bourbon-and-Coke glaze, and peanut butter and jelly wings.
As of May 2015, there's a second Brother Burger on Chapel Street in South Yarra.
