Margie Woods and Lisa Reynolds launched Viktoria & Woods in 2004, with a line of Merino-wool clothing. For more than a decade, their collections were only available wholesale. But since 2016, fans have been able to find their contemporary wardrobe staples at two Melbourne stores.

The label has expanded beyond wool, using a variety of high-quality natural fibres such as cotton and silk. On the shelves you’ll find chunky cable knits, luxe coating, and sporty bomber jackets that will become go-to items for years.

Woods and Reynolds are committed to environmentally friendly production practices, and the brand has been accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia. The boutiques also stock Lacoste footwear, Celine sunglasses and jewellery by Australian and international designers. Melbourne-based Fiona Lynch designed both stores, which reflect the brand’s aesthetic: simple and approachable, yet refined and feminine.

At the Emporium flagship, you’re welcomed through an angular, textured grey archway, into warm creams and greys. There’s a sculpture-like counter and razor-thin steel shelving. Look for the bespoke light by Melbourne designer Christopher Boots, which hangs near the entrance of the store. The linear glass tube, affixed to a piece of onyx could easily be mistaken for a piece of art.

Also unique? The natural light flowing through the back of the store – a rarity in a shopping complex like Emporium.
