After the success of his boutique bottle shop Cloudwine, Chris Plazzer decided to open a space dedicated solely to Europe’s finest, right next door.

European Wine Store’s stock comes only from small wineries with limited production. Plazzer aims to broaden his customers’ tastes, moving them beyond the familiar varietals and methods that dominate the mass market.

The 600-ish wines on offer come from France, Portugal, Italy and beyond. The store also claims one of the biggest selections of Bordeaux wines in Australia – not bad considering the modest-sized space. Very few bottles are more than $100.

Once a month winemakers and other experts come to speak at themed sessions. Alternatively, get more acquainted with the varieties in store by joining the wine tastings held every Saturday from 1pm to 3pm.
