In the former quarters of Le Derriere by Entrecote, Park Pantry is a Euro-style cafe by day, wine bar by night. Stroll by on a morning for toasted sandwiches (including a croque monsieur with mortadella); pork and apple sausage rolls; boeuf bourguignon pies; freshly baked pastries; and coffee courtesy of Industry Beans.

Come early afternoon, the 16-seat venue transforms into a wine bar, where you might order corn polenta with foraged mushrooms, tiger prawns with a saffron risotto and a “ridiculously amazing” confit duck. There are also smaller snacks like Merimbula rock oysters with a hibiscus mignonette and house-made cured meats.

A small wine list features German rieslings and rosé from Provence, pinot noir from Gevrey-Chambertin in France, and chardonnays from the region of Montagny in France, and Giant Steps in the Yarra Valley. It’s a list where you can explore different wine varietals from different countries, while also being able to find wines that fit perfectly with your meal.

Shaping Interiors’s Rebecca Rourke worked on Park Pantry’s (re)design, which was minimal. Keeping with the French-inspired brief, the venue’s old light fittings and cabinetry remain; she even colour-matched the green colour scheme that calls to mind the famous Paris Metro stations.
