Step through the door at Pizza Farro Windsor, and you’ll immediately have a few decisions to make. First, where to sit? In the front, with its old-school osteria feel? Or maybe further back, where things lighten up and give way to exposed brick walls and brightly coloured velour banquette seating? There’s even an enclosed courtyard at the very back, that’s perfect for warm summer evenings. Next decision: what to drink? Italian classics such as a ruby red Negroni are well executed here, but we recommend picking whatever takes your fancy on the signature cocktails list.

Finally, and most importantly, comes the question of what to eat. Fortunately, Farro has built its strong reputation off the back of an inclusive and extensive range of pizzas, pastas and antipasti. All pizzas and pastas here are made using spelt flour, which has a mild nutty flavour and can be easier for the body to digest than its wheat counterpart.

Plus, every pizza on the menu can be made vegan or with an entirely gluten-free base. Start off your meal with some crunchy polenta chips with truffle mayo or some prosciutto and parmesan croquettes, then move on to something larger, such as slow-braised lamb tagliatelle or ricotta gnocchi with pesto.

The pizza range changes quite often, but toppings trend traditional. And the pizzas are liberally showered with ingredients, which makes Farro a great option if you’re eating with someone who often feels short-changed on the toppings front. Free extra parmesan and chilli oil is also a welcome touch.
