The Bodega

The Bodega ticks a few boxes – and they’re all the right ones. At this all-in-one-wine bar, deli and store you can settle in with a bottle of wine and some aperitivo-hour snacks, have a meal from the tapas-style menu, or take some beers and bottled cocktails to go.

For the former, head to the white fluted bar to choose from one of the 250 hand-picked bottles of wine sourced locally from the peninsula, wider Victoria and around the globe. Then perch yourself at the communal table, where you might grab a hunk of French brie or Spanish manchego, best enjoyed with salty olives, prosciutto, peninsula honeycomb or fresh figs by your side.

If none of these options tickle your fancy, the share plate menu might offer up Flinders oysters, saucy prawn and cucumber rolls in pillowy brioche buns, or an heirloom tomato salad with oozing burrata and local Miller’s bread.

Before the evening ends, don’t forget to check out the small larder storing pasta and preserves and the takeaway fridge where craft beer and a bottled cocktail – including a classic Negroni or salted caramel Espresso Martini – ensure the good vibes are taken elsewhere.

The Bodega is the first venture from co-owners and partners Lachlan and Mariah Barnes. From a distance, its white exterior exudes both classy and coastal, conjuring images of a Santorini getaway. The interior continues this aesthetic with white walls, curved edges and golden touches creating a light, inviting space.
