Online platform Artbid is delivering another auction of work by emerging artists – “Vivid Vignettes” is scheduled for 7pm on Monday July, with 50 vibrant lots of contemporary Australian art from 38 artists.
These are the pieces we’re excited to bid on.
April Psonis Balancing Act #2
starting at $450
Self-taught Melbourne-based artist April Psonis celebrates beauty in the banal. We’d hang this still life (acrylic on canvas) in our kitchen as a reminder to look for magic in the little things each day. Never miss a moment. starting at $1500
“A place where bodies are comfortable, content, restful and free to exist just as they are. This work is part of my Languid Ladies series that explores a woman or mother's need to exist in contentment free from another’s judgement,” artist Sarana Haeata shared in a statement. We’re picturing this piece – which is made with highly textured acrylic on linen – hanging in a well-lit bathroom or as part of a gallery wall. Josh Fartch Yellow And Blue
$200
Melbourne artist Josh Fartch leans into the “Vidid Vignettes” theme of this month’s auction with this vibrant abstract. It’s framed in Victorian ash and measures 26.4 x 21.4 centimetres. Thais Fragoso Fragments 337
starting at $800
Thais Fragoso is focused on the impact of colour on visual wellbeing, working to create a sense of harmony and joy through each work. Her latest series, “Fragments”, is filled with retina-grabbing hues. Imagine this striking piece hanging above your dining table. Britney Turner Where The Wild Things Are
starting at $1950
A sunny home office, an open-plan living space or even a tonal bedroom: there’s so many places you could hang this piece by Britney Turner. Green dominates the mixed-media work, creating a verdant energy. You can check out the entire catalogue, register for bidding and create a shortlist in the next few days. And there’s an option to leave an absentee bid if you’re not able to join the live auction but fall in love with one of the works.
Price guides are listed in the catalogue – starting bid estimates range from $250 to $2200. Just like in a classic auction, a reserve price is set for each piece. A 12 per cent buyer’s premium is added to the final price of the work. This is lower than industry standards, which generally sit around 20 to 25 per cent.
All artworks sold are “ready to hang”. Depending on the piece, this could mean framed or stretched canvas – you can find specifics for each work in the catalogue. Delivery is free to most addresses in Australia, regardless of the size and weight of the artwork. Addresses in the Northern Territory, Tasmania and some remote or regional areas are exceptions, but shipping quotes can be provided for exempt postcodes prior to the auction.
