The new catalogue includes works by emerging artists, including exclusive pieces you won’t find in traditional gallery spaces. And all works are sold ready to hang, with delivery available across the country.

Online platform Artbid is delivering another auction filled with emerging artists – “Winter Sun” is scheduled for 7pm on Monday June 3, with 40 lots of contemporary Australian art from 28 artists.

If you joined previous online auctions in September 2023 or earlier this year, you’ll understand the calibre of works available. Designed to make art more accessible, the team behind Artbid is focussed on championing artists who have previously been underrepresented in traditional gallery spaces.

Marnie McKnight, Jasmine Mansbridge, Andrew Gurman and Denise Hojdyssek are four of the names we’re excited to bid on this time.

Marnie McKnight

Turning a hobby into a career in 2016, Marnie McKight is known for her abstract expressionist works, using acrylics and oils. The catalogue includes pieces from her new “Light Reading” series, which play on McKnights love of books – her favourite past time when shes not making art.

Jasmine Mansbridge

Jasmine Mansbridge's work provokes thought through geometry and portals to an imagined world. Working with acrylic on linen for her pieces in this catalogue, Mansbridge uses bold colours to create interest.

Andrew Gurman

Andrew Gurman is guided by intuition and a profound connection to the in-between in his practice. Vivid colours and geometric designs degine his work. Gurman just wrapped an exhibition at Brunswick Street Gallery.

Denise Hojdyssek

German-born but based in Adelaide, Denise Hojdyssek’s work is heavily inspired by mid-century design and the Bauhaus period. Clean lines, shapes, and harmonious composition meet texture, colour, and experience in her pieces.

You can check out the entire catalogue, register for bidding and create a shortlist in the next few days. And there’s an option to leave an absentee bid if you’re not able to join the live auction but fall in love with one of the works.

Price guides are listed in the catalogue – starting bid estimates range from $200 to $300. Just like in a classic auction, a reserve price is set for each piece. A 12 per cent buyer’s premium is added to the final price of the work. This is lower than industry standards, which generally sit around 20 to 25 per cent.

All artworks sold are “ready to hang”. Depending on the piece, this could mean framed or stretched canvas – you can find specifics for each work in the catalogue. Delivery is free to most addresses in Australia, regardless of the size and weight of the artwork. Addresses in the Northern Territory, Tasmania and some remote or regional areas are exceptions, but shipping quotes can be provided for exempt postcodes prior to the auction.
