Joining the two Aussie nominees are historical drama Shogun, with 25 nominations, and The Bear, which received 23 nominations – a record number for a comedy series.

Earlier this morning, the full list of nominees for the 76th Emmy Awards was announced and two Australian actresses – Elizabeth Debicki and Naomi Watts – were recognised for their performances.

Debicki is nominated for best supporting actress in a drama series for her turn as Princess Diana in Netflix’s prestige drama The Crown. It’s the same category she was nominated in last year. Debicki is joined by Watts who is nominated for best lead actress in a limited series for her performance in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans where she plays magazine editor and socialite Babe Paley.

The two women were born in Paris and Kent respectively, but both moved to Australia during childhood, so we claim them – like pavlova.

Joining the two Aussies, historical drama Shogun leads the pack with 25 nominations. While The Bear, the very stressful comedy about life in the restaurant industry, received 23 nominations for its third series. This includes acting noms for much of the main cast including Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Bob Odenkirk, Will Poulter, Olivia Coleman and Jamie Lee Curtis.

If you saw the nominations roll out today and found yourself thinking, “I swore we just did this”, it’s because we did. The 75th Emmy Awards were held just six months ago due to delays caused by strikes in Hollywood.

Here is the full list of nominees.
