Go-To launched its Very Luxe face cream in April – a time when my skin felt suitably hydrated and was (mostly) behaving itself. When the product landed on my desk I unboxed it, oohed and ahhed at the shiny rose gold packaging (a departure from the brand's signature peach) and popped it in the “to be tested” pile.
Jump forward to June when I arrived back in Sydney after a trip to New York with a fragile face to care for. The long-haul flight, combined with a head cold (and high tissue usage), winter wind and office heating, had left my skin feeling a bit depleted.
Now was the perfect time to let my jar of Very Luxe face cream do its thing. The brand notes tell me it was “created to nourish the skin and strengthen the barrier” thanks to its ingredients list: three types of ceramides, vegan collagen and pink algae.
I started using the cream both morning and night. It has a subtle scent and very creamy consistency that evaporated almost immediately into my thirsty skin. It was rich and thick but didn’t leave me feeling greasy, and my SPF and (albeit minimal) makeup layered nicely on top.
Even though I suffer from dry, dehydrated skin, I’m also acne-prone (the true delight of a combination skin type). I didn’t experience any breakouts that I could attribute to the product and my face began to feel more its normal self.
After a few weeks of dedicated use, I’ve found myself reaching for this cream when my skin feels like it needs it the most: after a particularly long, cold day or following a chemical exfoliator. It’s one that will stay in my seasonal rotation.
Retailing for $79, the heavyweight packaging and equally dense cream inside rival that of luxury products with more than double the price tag. If you’re looking for a skincare treat and you’re battling through winter skin woes, Very Luxe face cream is worth a try.
The brand currently offers two other moisturisers: Very Lightweight (which is housed in a refillable container) and Very Useful face cream. These are tailored to different skin types and concerns if Very Luxe isn’t quite your cup of tea.
