Dark romantic florals, wavy-edge ceramics, cosy kitchen textiles and plenty of pumpkins. Ikea’s lush new collection brings elevated Hocus Pocus style.

Tell your goth friends. Ikea’s newest drop promises to conjure your inner (g)host with the most – via tableware and kitchen textiles ideal for spooky springtime entertaining.

The Hostagille collection has more than a touch of goth – there are bat-shaped pillows ($25) and garlands ($6) after all – but it’s more elevated Hocus Pocus than party-store scares and skulls. And there’s nothing over 50 bucks.

Unexpected colour combinations spice up the usual black-white-orange Halloween spectrum. There are lilac, mint, sherbet orange and sunny yellow side plates with quirky scalloped rims ($20 for four). Meanwhile, lush rusty red corduroy cushions ($10), smoky grey glassware ($5) and bold amber candle-holders ($7) add drama.

A standout floral surface design – featuring folkloric rosehips, buds and blooming roses – lends dark romance to a pure cotton tablecloth ($25), cushion cover ($8) and set of storage boxes ($20 for two).

With garlands, trays, candles and stands, there’s an emphasis on creative tablescaping. And while bats and pumpkins will keep dark souls happy, most pieces can reside in everyday decor schemes. So no need to chuck them in the cupboard once November rolls around.

The Hostagille range will be available online and in-store from August 1.
