The Wishlist: Five Things Broadsheet Editors Are Coveting Now

A portable pizza oven perfect for summer entertaining. Funky banana earrings made of glass. A sellout chopping board. In partnership with Mastercard, here’s what we’re adding to cart.

I have a note on my phone titled “wishlist” that seems to grow every day with entries like “vintage dark blue jeans”, “slim loafers”, “Kobn beach towel” and “the Dries Van Noten perfume” (please!). It’s not often I get to tick something off, but when I do, it’s incredibly satisfying.

I like learning what’s on other people’s covet list. It’s a fun way to exchange inspiration, discover new products and indulge in a bit of nosiness. So I asked around the office to see what our editors have their eyes on. I might add these to cart as well.

I know it’s a risk. If I spend a bit more money than usual on a pair of blue-as-the-ocean sunnies this year, they’ll end up at the bottom of the harbour. But it’s a risk worth taking. I’m loving these rectangular frames from Lucy Folk, in a hue so delicate they’re calling it “Rain”. They’re made in Italy via a process that takes four months from start to finish. And, in the brand’s signature style, they’re designed to be worn with a flashy chain (which, come to think of it, is a sensible investment to help me keep this pair for years to come).

Gozney pizza oven

I’ve been to two different parties recently where the hosts fired up a pizza oven, and I left both absolutely green with envy. I want to be a Gozney girl. I want to have everyone over to sit in the garden sipping spritzes, rolling dough and arranging toppings, then shovelling them into the Gozney. Then I want to pull them out, all puffy and blistered, and pass them around on a little board. I’m manifesting a Gozney girl summer, with evenings spent cooking and clinking glasses with mates.

Jean Riley Banaene hoops

I have a teeny unpeeled banana tattooed on my bod. Why? Because the banana is everything you could want in a snack: pre-wrapped, the colour of sunshine, energy-filled and tasty as (especially when it’s still just a bit green). So when Joel Riley and his fiance Josh Pattison, the glass artists behind jewellery label Jean Riley, announced bananas would join their salad bowl of charms, I listened up. Like all Jean Riley pieces, the bananas are handmade in Melbourne, and no two are the same. They come as singles or a pair, and I’ll covet them till they’re dangling from my lobes.

Fat Tuesdays chopping board

They say the one thing you want most is the one thing you can’t have. For me, that one thing, of all things, is a psychedelic, sustainably made chopping board by Sydney-based homewares brand Fat Tuesdays. It’s my white whale. The key to unlocking a level of home-cooking bliss previously unattained. But every time I go to buy one, the bloody things are sold out. To anyone who’s also chasing one, I say this: if you wanna chop, you better chop chop.

Kip & Co Cheetah organic cotton pillowcase

I’m a firm believer that animal print is a neutral – so yes, while I’m aware this Cheetah organic cotton pillowcase from Kip & Co is designed for children, I want it on my adult bed. Preferably in a matching pair. Or perhaps teamed with one of these Snake Pit numbers. Who knew kids bedding was so rock’n’roll?
