A chic new 188-room boutique hotel will open in Melbourne’s Southbank in September 2025, housed within the Queensbridge Building, a 62-level residential tower opposite Crown which is currently under construction.
The $150 million Hannah St Hotel will boast a “neighbourhood” bar, restaurant and rooftop, while guests will also have the use of the Queensbridge Building’s lap pool, gym and co-working space with soundproof podcasting rooms.
Flack Studio, the powerhouse design outfit behind (Ace Hotel Sydney and Troye Sivan’s residence) has been enlisted to design the interiors, spotlighting materials such as brass, steel, and stone in a nod to Southbank’s industrial heritage.
Its launch will take advantage of the $1.7 billion revitalisation of the area’s arts precinct, which includes a new contemporary art gallery, an urban garden and improved access to the area’s existing cultural institutions.
Hannah St Hotel is named for adjacent Hannah Street, which itself is named for Patrick Hanna, an immigrant from Glasgow who arrived in Melbourne in 1853 and operated a punt transporting locals across the Yarra River.
It is a joint project between development group Time & Place (which brought the Ace Hotel to Sydney); TFE Hotels (operators of The Calile in Brisbane; Adina; Quincy Hotels); and real estate investment manager Maxcap Group.
Hannah St Hotel will open in September 2025 at [90 Queens Bridge Street, Southbank].
