Since Laneway Festival first came to New Zealand in 2010, Aucklanders have had a clear run for attending thanks to the day-long music event falling on Auckland Anniversary Day each year.

It hasn’t had a good run over the last few years, with post-Covid festival plans abruptly cancelled this year due to the unprecedented weather and devastating floods that took place on Auckland Anniversary Weekend.

Now, the festival’s organisers have announced Laneway is moving to a nationally recognised public holiday so more music fans can attend – and possibly hoping for more stable weather slightly later in the year.

Laneway Festival 2024 will take place at Western Springs on Waitangi Day, which falls on Tuesday February 6.

You can register for pre-sale tickets now, to see a stellar line-up that’s led by multi-award-winning British rapper and grime artist Stormzy.

You’ll also be able to groove to American singer-songwriter Steve Lacy, who the Guardian described as “the sexed-up heir to Stevie Wonder and Prince” and who’s coming for his first ever New Zealand show. There’ll be New Zealand band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and actor and musician Dominic Fike (who starred in Euphoria season two). British singer-of-the-moment Raye is joining the typically wide-ranging line-up (also for her first Aotearoa gig), plus American singer-songwriter Faye Webster, Australian indie artist Dope Lemon, British singer and model Suki Waterhouse, New Zealand musician Molly Payton and British rapper AJ Tracey.

Presale starts on Tuesday September 12, 11am NZ local time. General on-sale starts Thursday September 14, 11am local time.
