Après Sessions at Sherwood Queenstown
Few things feel better in life than warming up and winding down after a long day of hitting the slopes. At Sherwood Queenstown’s inaugural Après Sessions, they’ll provide not only warmth in the form of their welcoming firepit, but also entertainment, food and drinks – and, of course, toasted marshmallows.
The opening event in this ongoing series is taking place on Saturday, August 26. For this one, Sherwood has teamed up with outdoor apparel label Halfdays (which recently launched in Aotearoa and is shooting its new campaign at the hotel) and local music duo Nathan Haines and Jaimie Webster Haines, who’ll be on live beats. Attendees can look forward to giveaways from Halfdays throughout the evening, too.
There’ll be a dedicated food and drinks menu featuring Sherwood’s famous woodfired flatbreads (our favourite is the salmon and crème fraîche-topped version) and twice-cooked potatoes, along with mulled wine and boozy hot chocolate. They’ll also be serving the new Sherwood collaboration with Queenstown brewery Canyon Brewing, a low-carbon hazy pale ale that they’ll donate a portion of the proceeds from sales to local reforestation projects.
A boutique hotel with a community focus, Sherwood is known for events that add texture to Queenstown’s cultural fabric. “Music, culture and community have always been at the heart of what we offer here at Sherwood,” general manager Hayley Scott tells Broadsheet. “And with the perfect space to unwind after the mountain, we are excited to kick off our new series Après Sessions with a bang so that our visitors can truly celebrate how many turns they had (or didn’t have) on the hill.”
Sherwood Après Sessions are expected to run every Saturday until October 8, 2023.
