Yu Mei Utility collection
New Zealand accessories label Yu Mei has built its name on elegant and practical bags made from local deer leather (an industry by-product) – and its latest release brings the same principles in a whole new fabric. The Utility collection came out this week – after three years of development and 100 prototypes. It is made from Econyl, a regenerated nylon crafted from waste (such as fishing nets and carpets). The eight styles are designed to slot seamlessly into your life (and what Yu Mei calls its “art of packing ecosystem” of bags) – perfect to carry to work, to the gym and beyond. There are two large bags – the tall white Portrait Tote and the broader brown Landscape Tote – and three organisers, designed to keep your smaller bits in order inside a bigger bag. These are available in attractive contrasting tones, with pockets and drawstring tops. There are also new Econyl versions of popular existing pouch styles. yumeibrand.com

Mahsa fundamentals
Another label evolving from its usual offering, Mahsa has a new core range of evergreen wardrobe staples to anchor its signature romantic blouses, dresses and outerwear. Pared-back yet beautifully crafted, the Fundamentals collection is made up of three cardigans – in chocolate brown, black and a grey-green rib – three matching singlets, plus a pair of slouchy satin trousers in green and black. There’s also an upcoming bias-cut satin skirt. All the pieces are reach-for basics that are effortless to wear, with a sensuality in the cut and small details that set them apart from other basics. mahsa.co.nz
