High Country Cabin
High Country Cabin – a well-designed take on a tramping hut – gives you a rugged wilderness experience, but in the comfort of a stylishly decorated cabin.
Every surface of the 50-square-metre space has been thought through, including the decor, much of which is handmade. There are cowhide rugs and solid wood side tables, and the door handles and chandelier are crafted from antlers shed by the deer that roam the surrounding alps.
A log burner takes inspiration from the classic back-country tramping huts in the area. It’s ideal for curling up beside with a hot drink, while enjoying mountain views through nearly every window.
The location – in the heart of the Southern Alps – gives you access to snowfields, national parks and glacial lakes. Exhaust yourself skiing, hiking or mountain-bike riding all day, before heading back to the warmth of your cabin. If you’re lucky, you might even find yourself face to face with wild rabbits, sheep and native birds.
