Philip Shaw Wines

Philip Shaw Wines sits atop a hill on a 20-acre property. The cellar door and tasting room is in an old, converted apple-storage barn (if you look closely at the walls you can find graffiti dating back to the 1920s).

The rest of the space has taken its inspiration from the barn. There’s an old fireplace, plenty of timber accents, and dark slate and tan brickwork. Guests are encouraged to linger during the tasting experience with a cheese board featuring local produce.

When you’re done tasting, take a stroll around the property – wander through the beautiful arbour and the old quince and apples trees (which will leave you with a sense of calm and quiet), play a game of bocce, visit the old butter-churning sheds and walk through the vines. The views of Mount Canobolas are majestic.

Chief winemaker Daniel Shaw’s wines are bold and easy-drinking. The cool-climate shiraz is rich and complex, and you shouldn’t leave without picking up a bottle of the No. 11 chardonnay.
