Me Too Please Espresso
Features
For decades, the Parramatta Road end of Nelson Street has been renowned as a rocking after-dark spot, being home to the iconic Annandale Hotel. However nowadays there’s also a steady stream of visitors making a day-time pilgrimage to the precinct, attracted by an unexpected pocket of sunshine, colour and some seriously good coffee.
At Me Too Please Espresso, you’ll first notice the colourful seats and Mexican Oilcloth-clad tables outside, framed by a double-fronted window of the adjoining retail store packed with cute homewares. Inside is the expansive espresso bar decked out in Central and South American art.
Supporting the Paul Bassett and Fair-Trade single origin coffee, the food at Me Too Please is reassuringly homely, think simple breakfasts, sandwiches with Portuguese sardines and roast tomato, toasties (avocado, sumac and Persian feta), daily salads and soup specials. There’s also a selection of cakes, tarts and pastries, not to mention authentic Mexican hot chocolate.
And if you’re wondering what’s going on at the table next to you with the guys drinking out of pomegranate shells with metal straws, they’re enjoying a traditional Argentinian Yerba Maté tea, and Me Too Please is one of the only spots in Sydney that serves it.
