Fix Cafe
Continuing the wave of excellent coffee that is sweeping Crows Nest is this tiny hole-in-the-wall cafe, turning out an A-grade brew. Tucked just off the main street, the compact Fix Cafe is the work of owner Tony Binning (ex Aqua Dinning, Kirribilli) and it makes for a simple and clever space.
All white tiles, crystal cut water glasses and friendly greetings with windows opened out to the street, it’s a refreshingly uncomplicated cafe.
The coffee here is by Double Roasters (Marrickville) and it arrives hot and strong for office workers and shopping mums alike throughout the day.
Binnings keeps it simple, which is a change from some of the more one-stop-shop places in the area. On the food front, this is all about great, easy options for lunchbreaks and breakfasts. There are five choices for each, but in reality that’s all you need. Pick from pork sausage, egg and burnt onion for brekkie or chicken, walnut, green apple and homemade mayo sandwiches, or maybe roast pork, burnt bacon and mature cheddar for lunch. The decisions are tough enough without too many options.
It’s slotting into a booming coffee scene in Crows Nest, but is drawing a regular band of followers who bypass options on the main Willoughby strip to make a beeline for this side-street nook.
Certainly the name is encouragement enough – so come and get your fix.
