The only 24-hour cafe in Sydney’s CBD, De La France, is no longer serving after 7pm.

The bakery is familiar to many who’ve been saved by a late-night sausage roll. It has been operating 24/7 for more than a decade, but has become the latest victim of the lockout laws.

John Huan, the cafe owner, told the Daily Telegraph the lack of foot traffic forced the decision to close the bakery doors at 7pm sharp.

The news comes in the wake of a weekend of negative attention for Mike Baird. On Sunday Baird posted a photo of himself on his Facebook page standing next to the infamous Scott Marsh Casino Mike mural in Chippendale.

The caption read:
“Did you know that NSW has an official “graffiti removal day”?
Well, it does. And it’s today.
Just saying.”

The post was quickly torn apart by the Facebook community. Members labelled it “arrogant”, criticised his use of the term “graffiti” and defended the mural as an important “artwork” and a “political protest”.

One follower wrote, “Not only does this photograph depict our Premier as having the maturity of a student politician, it is alarming that he is celebrating the curtailing of political expression.”

The mural was painted in April to protest the lockout laws.
