When Nathan and Sasha White started building their own furniture and homewares, they didn’t expect others would be interested in their handcrafted pieces. But within seven years of starting their brand, Mr & Mrs White, they opened their first retail store in early 2018. It’s two blocks from Manly beach.

Nathan studied boat building, completing a four-year shipwright apprenticeship, and Sasha did a degree in design majoring in graphic design. The Mr & Mrs White collection ranges from couches and beds to dining tables and stools. There are also smaller items such as coasters, linens and cushions. All their pieces are made up the road in their Brookvale factory.

Designing furniture is only half of Mr & Mrs White’s business. They also do shop fit-outs; they created fixtures for next-door neighbours Assembly Label and The Horse, as well as Bondi Wash, and Natalie Marie Jewellery in Avalon.

Mr & Mrs White also stocks select pieces from other designers. There’s a concrete candle range from New York’s Novel Studios and photographic prints by New York-based photographer Glen Allsop.
