Some nights up to 30 of the patrons at The Vic on the Park will be dogs. Pop by anytime and you’ll see canines of all shapes and sizes dining with their owners on the pub’s expansive back deck, which feels as comfortable as a mate’s backyard.

The outdoor area looks onto a wall of bold and quirky street art and the pub’s own basketball court. Groups pack together and chat animatedly. Sometimes, you can spot four different generations in the crowd sharing jugs of Carlton Draught or Coopers; or sipping on stubbies from local breweries Batch Brewing Co. and Young Henrys (except for the kids, of course).

The pub is more than just a place to meet for a feed and a drink. It also hosts regular live bands and DJ sets, plus special events such as outdoor spit roasts. Since October 2017 it's been owned and operated by Merivale.

The simple bar menu offers well-executed pub classics, and weekly chalkboard specials bring variety. Regulars love the buttermilk fried-chicken burger with lettuce, avocado, chipotle mayonnaise and chips. Rotating specials include an antipasto board, zucchini roulade and a mushroom and blue-cheese risotto. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available.
