It was with great excitement that Acne Studios opened its first store in the Southern Hemisphere in 2010 in Paddington (closely followed by its Melbourne store in Armadale).

Acne is a progressive fashion label hailing from one of the world’s design hubs, Sweden. Its founding idea was to conjure a lifestyle behind the brand, incorporating their denim, fashion, magazine and other wares into such an ethos, and as a result, making it all highly covetable.

Creative director Jonny Johansson has built the brand to be a one-stop-shop for richly layered, minimalist pieces that work their way effortlessly into any wardrobe. Whether it’s the cut of the denim or elegance of the simple, casual basics, each season is full of new, understated surprises.

The store is thoroughly inviting. Its large glass windows and studio feel exude spaciousness. The highlight of the store is the deep drop at the rear, backing onto a beautiful garden space – a lush setting in which to ponder the wall of denim. The whole experience makes it near impossible to leave the shop empty handed.
