Whale Beach
Whale Beach is famous among surfers for “The Wedge” – a reliably good surf break off the northern rocks.
Surprisingly, what Whale Beach is not known for, is whales. Common belief is that the beach was named so for the shape of the surrounding headland. Another theory is that a whale may have beached upon its shore at one time in history. No one really knows for sure.
As is the style in this part of the world, there’s a petite 25 metre rockpool on the southern end and plenty of beachside amenities for you to take advantage of.
