Menu

We’ve come a long way from steaks and schnitties as standard pub fare. These days, establishments are setting their own benchmarks for what classifies as pub grub. At the Woollahra Hotel, it means pan-Asian dishes that make you forget you’re even in a pub.

Though the menu is ever evolving, you’re guaranteed to find a selection of standout house-made curries that don’t skimp on flavour. Past favourites have included a spicy Hiramasa kingfish and prawn number, and a mildly sweet Thai green chicken curry.

For lighter options, you could go for Hiramasa kingfish sashimi dressed in coconut cream, makrut lime and a punchy nam jim. But we really love the DIY three-hour braised beef short rib bao with pickled cucumber and slaw. Even the classics – sirloin steak, burgers and friends – are given an Asian twist.

You can enjoy it all in the courtyard, which has a lush vertical garden and is lit up by birdcage fairy lights and glowing pink neon signage. Or head to the front bar downstairs, which provides a casual, corner-pub experience in a well-preserved art deco setting.
