Electra House Ground Floor
If the six-metre-high ceilings of Electra House’s chamber bar don’t impress you, then perhaps the Tuesday afternoon fried chicken offering will. For $13, you can enjoy a serve of the EFC (no points for guessing what that stands for) and a pint of Young Henrys natural lager.
Electra House Ground Floor opened in 2015, in a building that had suffered 20 years of neglect. It received its new look from designer Danielle Elia (Public) with the help of Studio Nine.
The central location makes Ground Floor a popular spot for the weekday business crowd. On weekends the demographic takes a slight turn, as young partygoers arrive to catch DJs in the refined setting. Friday nights host Tim Bos, who plays saxophone live over a house set.
More extensive dining can be had upstairs, at Level One. Down here, the same Korean-Italian theme is stripped right down to burgers and lighter dishes. For lunch, there’s a tempura-fish burger with fries, and a grilled peach salad in the outdoor garden or grand main bar. The menu condenses late afternoon to a handful of burgers and cheeseboard favourites.
