Stocking cult labels including Isabel Marant, rag & bone and Acne Studios, Calexico cultivates a look akin to Parisian street style. More than 30 labels from the world’s style capitals are in stock at any one time, styled to capture that certain je ne sais quoi of the French.

Other brands, including Raquel Allegra, Helmut Lang, Equipment and J Brand, you’ll find in store year-round. Many of Calexico’s could not be sourced at all prior to its opening in 2010 – a particular source of pride for owner Nicky Charman, who aims to put her own stamp on local fashion.

Charman and her sister (also her right-hand lady) Rebel Hendrie, head to New York, Milan and Paris every few months to source new pieces. As well as bringing back a haul of new-season goods from these trips, she also has a print in tow, which she frames and adds to the collection slowly climbing up the boutique’s walls.

Fortunately, the space has high enough ceilings for the tradition to continue for many seasons yet.
