Sarah & Sebastian was born in 2012 as a two-person operation helmed by founders Sarah Munro and Robert Sebastian Grynkofki. Since then, the Sydney-born label has grown to become one of Australia’s most celebrated jewellery brands with six locations across Sydney and Melbourne. Now the eponymous label has welcomed a seventh location in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD; not only is it the brand’s first Queensland outpost, but the store is its biggest to date.

The label’s CEO, Amelia Fincher, says the long-term support from its Queensland clients was key to its expansion there. “The opening of our first Brisbane store is an exciting step for the brand, [it] has five times the footprint of our first store in Paddington. [It’s] a testament to our enduring growth.”

Located on Edward Street – alongside Australian designers like Paspaley and Dinosaur Designs, and international names including Hermès and Cartier – the new flagship echoes the label’s contemporary style. Designed by architect George Livissianis (also behind the brand’s new outpost in Sydney’s Strand Arcade and the pint-sized Melbourne store), the striking, light-filled space contrasts exposed brick and arched windows with curved walls and reflective surfaces, creating a futuristic aesthetic that seamlessly coexists with the 1886 heritage-listed building.

“The design for our Brisbane store is an evolution of our signature store design,” Munro says. “We wanted to embrace a lighter colour palette while continuing to use materials synonymous with the Sarah & Sebastian aesthetic, such as stainless steel and mirror surfaces.”

Expect to find its handcrafted seasonal and signature collections displayed in a sleek chrome case floating across two levels at the centre of the newly opened store. The brand’s widely popular soldered bar will also be open within the store so you can get your own piece of (almost) permanent jewellery, and there’ll be a piercing lab fitted out with duck-blue walls and private suites for engagement and wedding consultations.

Exclusive to the Brisbane flagship is Ear Alchemy Styling, a personalised service where a curator will take you through the full range of piercing jewellery and curate a composition to suit your individual ear anatomy.
