Market Lane Coffee Queen Street
Market Lane Coffee is one of Melbourne’s most beloved coffee haunts, with spots at Prahran Market, Carlton, Brunswick and across the CBD. Since 2010, it’s called Queen Victoria Market home: first in a hole-in-the-wall shop opposite the market on Therry Street, then inside the market and now nearby on Queen Street.
Located in the historic Mercat Cross Hotel building, the Queen Street shopfront retains its original redbrick facade. Yet things look a little more modern on the inside. While redesigning the space, designer David Goss incorporated natural materials like wood and terracotta to create a textural and comfortable spot to enjoy your coffee.
Which coffee you go for is up to you – there’s high-quality espresso and filter, served either hot or over ice in the warmer months. On those days, you might like to sit outside and enjoy it al fresco (you can even bring your own treats to eat from the market). Or if you’re looking to have your own Market Lane experience at home there are bags of beans to go – fresh from its nearby Brunswick East roastery.
