90 Secondi
A lot can happen in 90 seconds. Just ask Johnny Di Francesco, the man behind Brunswick East’s 400 Gradi and now 90 Secondi, the Docklands’ aptly named boutique pizzeria. In a custom-made wood-fire pizza oven shipped directly from Napoli, Di Francesco’s team can craft pizzas that rival the best in Melbourne – and they make ‘em quick. According to Di Francesco, if it’s in the oven longer than 90 seconds, then it isn’t a true Neapolitan-style pizza.
Based at the foot of Etihad Stadium, by weekday you can expect the restaurant to be filled with wandering corporates, daily commuters and those looking for a quick lunch and glass of wine. Come the weekend, football fans bustle past as they enter the turnstiles of Etihad stadium.
Along with Neapolitan pizza staples, look out for deep fried zucchini flowers, pan fried octopus, char grilled lamb ribs or fresh tomato salads with bocconcini cheese. There’s also a fine selection of desserts to choose from, including vanilla and strawberry-infused panna cotta and a lengthy wine list.
Stop here for a pre-game dinner or a satisfying lunch to break up the working week.
