Goat House Cafe Roastery
The Goat House Cafe Roastery, neighbouring Elsternwick train station, caters for any coffee time of day, from a last-minute take-away latte before the morning commute, to a casual late arvo get-me-through-the-evening short black at 5pm.
Coffee is their thing. The owners personally select beans from the fair-trade market to roast onsite under brand Fayale (Ethopian for goat). Opening before it’s light (at 6am), the Goat House serves coffee brewed via one of six methods: espresso, Bunn Trifecta, filter, plunger, pour-over and lever. If the choice is too much for you in the wee hours, the baristas can recommend one to match your tastes.
The fully equipped kitchen serves breakfast all day from 7am, including grilled peaches, homemade bircher muesli and caramelised rhubarb. They serve lunch from noon, including roast beetroot salad, focaccias and a range of unusual pizzas, such as apple and walnut with anchovies.
If you're yet to explore the dining options in Elsternwick, the Goat House Cafe Roastery, at the top of the shopping strip on Glenhuntly Road, may be a good place to start.
