Every day, countless commuters experience the morning traffic on Brighton Road. Instead of sitting in your car infuriated, it may be the perfect time to step out and let the traffic subside while you wait at Miss Alex and Co.

Miss and Mister Alex, otherwise known as siblings Nicolette and John Alex, run the cafe. The interior is homey - blonde timber tables combine with pillowy navy cushions for ultimate comfort.

On weekend mornings, cyclists stopping over for their mid-ride caffeine or breakfast fix swarm the cafe. But by the time the afternoon comes around, it turns into a significantly calmer, more-intimate space.

For those who still crave breakfast at 3pm, the cafe has it covered. It serves dishes such as asparagus crepes, and French toast with caramel mascarpone until close.

The opening of St Kilda Burger Bar across the road hasn’t pinched the limelight from the Miss Alex’s burgers. The Louisi Burger remains a bestseller. It’s a tower of fried chicken, coleslaw and spicy mayonnaise in a brioche bun. All of Miss Alex and Co’s burgers come with fat, stubby chips.

To drink, you’ll find coffee by Rosso Roasting Co and freshly pressed juices. Otherwise Mörk Chocolate hot chocolates and Prana Chai lattes are on offer.
