The Big Design Market
Every year, The Big Design Market takes over the iconic Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens for three days of independent design and shopping – just in time for gifting season.
This year’s market features more than 250 independent Australian exhibitors selling everything from homewares and ceramics to fashion, jewellery, kids’ toys, tech accessories, books, stationery and art prints.
Shop timber furniture from Marlo Woodwork, handmade jewellery from Elementa Design, fragrances from Ficifolia and sustainable clothes by Abbie James.
Pick up homewares from Studio Do, Glass by Emma Klau, Loom Towels, Emma Morgan; art from Irina Nazarova and Odd Studio; ceramics by Katherine Wheeler Ceramics, AKA Ceramics, Asobimasu Clay and Bridget Bodenham; jewellery from Tilda Cole, Manuela Igreja, Elodie Jewellery and Kingston Jewellery; and ethical womenswear by Made for A Goddess, Lumi Clothing, Matilda Life and Frske and Astor + Tyne.
And you won’t go hungry. There'll be bahn mi from Ca Com, pastries from Wonder Pies, cannoli from Cannoleria, Portuguese tarts from Casa Nata, cacao creations from Mörk Chocolate and plenty more. Plus, tipples from Archie Rose Distilling Co, Bellevue Estate, Pizzini Wines and Cheeky Rascal Cider, just to mention a few.
Melbourne-based watercolour artist Claire Mosley has created a large-scale installation that’ll be on display, bringing a whimsical, colourful aesthetic to the market.
Entry is $6 for adults, and free for kids under 12.
