Rise, Ruin, Renew, Repeat at The Meat Market
Melbourne-based artist Jason Parker visualises the interplay between fragility and chaos in his exhibition Rise, Ruin, Renew, Repeat at the Stables, Meat Market, in North Melbourne.
Spanning oil paintings, kinetic sculptures, concrete works, short films and soundscapes, Parker’s vibrant and dynamic practice takes on a frenetic edge as the artist unpicks the synergy between chaos and control.
“While part of the work is intricate and delicate, the other is more fragmented and destructive. My intention is for guests to sense the fragility of life and see how beauty can be swiftly undone in moments of turmoil,” Parker says in a statement.
Set within the Stables, a renovated warehouse space within North Melbourne’s historic 1880s Meat Market building, Parker’s artworks respond to their urban environment by using concrete as a key material.
