Talk about a hole-in-one. To celebrate International Doughnut Day on June 7, Oasis is handing out 5,000 delicious donuts at its Fairfield and Murrumbeena stores. From 10am until sold out, grab yours in flavours like Nutella, jam, baklava, and a new Kinder Bueno.

Oasis Fairfield is a more modern and airy, albeit smaller, version of the original Oasis Bakery.

Downstairs, there’s a large tiled counter where you order food and coffee, with a casual seating area opposite. Upstairs, more seating and a private event space for cooking demonstrations.

Middle Eastern breakfasts include avocado on za’atar bread with beetroot tahini and feta, and orange blossom hotcakes topped with honey labneh and rose-petal katifi. The popular Lebanese pizzas are here: chicken and spinach, lamb and feta, or vegetarian with extra za’atar. Halloumi chips are fried in rice bran oil then drizzled with a za’atar, garlic and yoghurt sauce, pomegranate molasses and fresh mint.

Local wines are on the list, or try a Lebanese cabernet sauvignon. Simple cocktails – spritzes, Negronis, mimosas – are available, plus local brews and an Almaza beer from Lebanon. There’s also house-made lemonade and stove-brewed Turkish coffee.

The grocery section has falafel, antipasti, cheese, soups and tagines; a rotating selection of salads, freshly baked sourdough and Middle Eastern flatbreads; and dips such as beetroot hummus and labneh. The grocer also stocks sweet pastries, beans, pulses, dried fruits, spices and other specialty products.
