Features

Wild Things is very much a community project. The ethical organic grocer and cafe sources all stock via its close co-operation with local farmers and manufacturers. It’s a bit more expensive than Piedemonte’s over the road, but by visiting you’ll know exactly where your food is coming from.

Seasonal fruit and veg are delivered daily. But before you throw anything in your basket, check out the “ugly bin” – a box of cut-price produce, a little rough around the edges, on offer to decrease wastage. There are seedlings for sale if you’re interested in growing your own food.

Meat and eggs are both free-range and hormone and nitrate-free. There’s a huge selection of cheeses and milks (including non-dairy varieties), nuts, oils and grains. Zeally Bay and Baker D. Chirico supply the bread. All packaging is compostable, and in-store tastings are frequent.

The cafe/deli satisfies most diets: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, paleo and more. There’s coffee from Growers Espresso down the road, plus salads, sandwiches, pies and desserts. Smoothies and ice-creams are popular in summer.

An array of natural hair and skincare products, vitamins and cleaning products round out the store. There’s also a naturopathy corner, where qualified staff are available for consultation.
