The Rose
Features
Fitzroy’s oldest and best-loved pub reopened after renovations in early 2016.
It’s bigger and shinier than it once was, but there are echoes of the pub of old in the exposed-brick walls, central bar, AFL memorabilia and TVs playing sports. Polished concrete has replaced the carpet, but there’s still Carlton Draught and Coopers Pale on tap – plus a range of other beers, on tap and by the bottle or can.
Food wise, it’s classic pub fare with a few twists. Snacks range from bar nuts or fries, to ham-hock croquettes. Smaller plates include mussels in white wine, sausage rolls or calamari. There’s a burger, a parma and a pasta dish under mains, then there’s a few sides, a few desserts and some options for kids.
If you want wine, there’s a short by-the-glass list. If you’d prefer a bottle, head upstairs to Harry & Frankie Fitzroy and you can choose something to drink downstairs in the pub. In the upstairs area, there's also a range of function rooms available for hire.
