Jack B Nimble
Features
Two’s company. Three’s a crowd. Four, it seems, is a good number for running a cafe.
Jack B Nimble is owned by four friends and coffee enthusiasts: Deborah Ong, Julien Tay, E-Gene Soh and Kalvin Yeoh. All have extensive experience in the food and coffee industry, and wanted to bring something better to their local community. They live up to the friendliness the nursery rhyme name suggests, offering accommodating service and a welcoming atmosphere.
The building was previously a bakery, and the old “hot bread” sign has been left outside. Inside has an on-trend “Scandustrial” look with copper light fittings, polished concrete floors and plenty of light wood.
The view from the front window might be of a suburban car park, but the action’s happening on your plate. One menu favourite is black pudding with charred asparagus, potato rosti, fennel, poached eggs and brown butter hollandaise. Another is pan-seared mushrooms on cauliflower "rice" with romesco sauce, spiced pepitas and soy-bean crisps.
If you’re looking for something sweeter, there’s coconut panna cotta with rosewater, strawberries, pistachio praline and fresh mint, as well as a selection of pastries and baked goods. Coffee is sourced from Axil.
