Shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth will no longer go ahead. Event promoter Live Nation says it's working with the American rapper to reschedule the concerts.

American rapper Childish Gambino's November Australian tour has been cancelled due to a foot injury, tour promoter Live Nation Entertainment announced in an email on Sunday morning.

Live Nation said it is working with Gambino to "try and reschedule the dates for a new time period".

"We ask fans and media to please stay tuned – any updates will be available on Live Nation’s website, Facebook and Twitter and will be communicated to media."

The injury occurred at a Dallas concert last month, Live Nation said.

“I’m not ready to put on 100 per cent shows. Apologies to the fans. I will be back soon,” Donald Glover, a.k.a Childish Gambino, said in a statement.

"Childish Gambino is not confident of being able to perform at his full capacity and deliver the shows he had been planning," the Live Nation email further explained.

Gambino was due to start his sold-out Australian tour in Perth on November 8, before playing Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on November 10, and then two shows at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt.

In a show in Atlanta last month Glover announced that the This Is America tour would be his fans’ last chance to see him perform as Childish Gambino.

Glover had already announced that the unnamed follow up to his critically acclaimed third album, 2016’s Awaken My Love!, will be his last recorded work as Childish Gambino.

As well as performing as Childish Gambino, Glover works as a comedian, writer, director and actor.
