Sayers Sister
A whole lot of crazy love has gone into Sayers Sister. Mark and Stephanie Sayers want customers to feel right at home.
There are lolly jars and cakes strewn across the communal table (which doubles as the service counter), comfy chairs and a host of eclectic decorating touches, from a Stormie Mills mural to stained glass in the ceiling. Anything goes here, and if you want sangria with your breakfast, it’s yours.
The couple (former owners of Sayers) has stayed true to its focus on interesting, appealing food and the great coffee that made its original cafe such a success.
Breakfasts include kedgeree croquettes in turmeric and coconut sauce with eggs, and quinoa and oat granola with rosewater-poached pears and yoghurt. Egg dishes come with sides such as lime and tequila salmon gravlax, or Persian feta and pesto. Breakfast lasts until 2pm on Sundays and yes, champagne and breakfast cocktails are available.
On Friday and Saturday nights roll in for a boutique wine and dinner. Dishes include soft-shell crab with noodle salad and tom yum vinaigrette, and chai tea-poached chicken salad with smoky eggplant, mozzarella and basil pesto.
