Even on a Monday night, Flying Fajita Sistas attracts a steady stream of hungry customers. The Glebe Point Road stalwart has been around since 2008 and remains the local go-to for festive and flavourful Mexican food.

Owner and chef Joe Slakey was responsible for Flying Fajita Sistas’ refurbishment in 2015. With the knocking down of walls and a fresh coat of paint came a revamped menu that combines traditional ingredients with local flavours for a nuanced style of Mexican dining.

The menu is extensive and features small and large plates designed to share. A mix-and-match approach is encouraged via fillings, toppings and condiments. The roasted kangaroo fajita is particularly popular, and pairs nicely with the baby beetroot salad with orange, radish, salsa verde and queso fresco.

When it comes to drinks, trust in the sangria of the week, or opt for a creative cocktail such as the spicy watermelon Margarita with house-infused jalapeño tequila, Triple Sec, melon liqueur, lime, agave nectar and a chilli-sugar rim. If you just need to soothe some chilli burn, Two Birds Taco Beer on tap will do the job nicely.
