Food, booze and tunes against the scenic backdrop of Coriole Vineyards. Here’s to Now 2017 had all the ingredients for a belter of a festival – and it delivered.

Now in the expert hands of Jordan Jeavons, the Happy Motel’s annual post-New Year celebration expanded on the success of previous events, with a nicely curated music line-up, collaborations with Coriole’s kitchen team, and an impressive response to the stifling forecast.

Organisers and revellers beat the 41-degree heat with an arsenal of beach shades, water misters, cold beers and iced prosecco. Quang Nguyen and Heath Dalziel (Devour, Third Time Lucky) were also on hand doling out dessert from their freshly minted ice-cream van.

A handpicked roster of local and interstate artists – Rainbow Chan, Sparkspitter, Timberwolf and 30/70 – braved the temperatures early in the day. Local DJs and producers Oisima, Young Muscle, Joy & Sparks, Paradise Loft Soundsystem and Los Hedonistas kept the beats going into the night under the "Goodtime Patio".

As the early evening breeze came through, Adelaide soul and funk outfit The Transatlantics hit the main stage – reuniting after a four-year hiatus – for a 10th anniversary show (replete with the band’s signature sharp get-up). Homegrown trio Flamingo took the mic as the sun set over the winery, before making way for Fremantle hip-hop crew Koi Child. Melbourne groove powerhouses Total Giovanni and No Zu closed the main stage with a helluva dance party.
