There’s gonna be a rumble.

Adelaide’s top brewers ‘n’ shakers are preparing to face off in an epic cocktail throwdown, in the pursuit of fame, glory and bragging rights.

Seldom awake at the same hour, five baristas and five bartenders will meet on neutral ground at Bank Street Social on Tuesday January 31 to compete for the chance to have their recipe appear on the venue’s cocktail menu, and to represent SA in the national final.

Pane e Latte, Local Grind, Topiary Cafe, Magill Estate Kitchen and a state latte art champ from SAD Cafe have all signed on. They'll face the mixology elite from Electra House Hotel, Hains and Co, Maybe Mae, NOLA and recently opened La Vigne.

"It's a cracking list if you ask me," says organiser Tom Baker (co-founder of cold-drip coffee liqueur Mr Black). "It’s high time we got all these South Australian winners in the same room and threw down to see who comes out on top. And we’ll take any excuse for a boozy coffee party."

The rules? Competitors must devise and serve a signature cocktail using 30ml of any product in the MILKLAB range, 30ml of Mr Black coffee liqueur and 30ml of espresso. The rest is up to them. Think pimped-out espresso martinis, shaken short blacks and Long Island iced coffees with a twist.

The competition will run from 2.30pm until 4pm. The night will then roll on with cocktails and tastings from Mr Black and MILKLAB. The Adelaide event is the first of a national series, running throughout 2017.

Pick your side, #teamjoe or #teammoe(syzlak), and go cheer them on.
