In Lunch, Billie Eilish sings about a girl who’s just so sweet that the pop megastar could “eat her for lunch”. We’re pretty sure the whole thing is a metaphor and not an Armie Hammer-esque confession.
Not only is Eilish not a cannibal, she’s vegan. Ahead of her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, which kicked off in Brisbane on February 18, she shared a list of spots she recommends for eat vegan and plant-based dishes across the world.
Eilish and her brother Finneas, who really loves Southbank (a choice!), are both big fans of the River City, so it’s no surprise that six local spots made her list.

This bakery in an old Queenslander is so cute Eilish would definitely want to eat it for lunch. Although the spot isn’t strictly vegan (what self-respecting croissant could be), there’s a killer sourdough loaf and a salad sanga. It’s usually served with tarragon mayo, which can be omitted to make it a fully plant-based treat.
El Planta, South Brisbane
This plant-based taco joint packs a serious punch. Think guac and corn chips, grilled corn with chipotle vegan mayonnaise and plant-based takes on traditional taco fillings.
Za Za Ta, Fortitude Valley
Inside the Ovolo hotel, this vegetarian restaurant and bar has a Luchetti Krelle design that’d surely impress the former Met Gala co-chair. The menu draws on Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences.
You Came Again, West End
Vegan tapas – need we say more? Platters and set menus play alongside small plates. Our two cents? Eilish would love the miso eggplant, patatas bravas and lemon popcorn cauliflower bites.
Vega Cafe, Spring Hill
Vega Cafe brings to the table vegan spins on comfort food with an all-day menu of soul-soothing faves. There’s a strong Thai influence throughout, with tofu curries, cashew nut stir-fries and crispy pancakes.
Neon Ramen, Everton Park
An anime-themed dream known for its killer ramen, huge portions and fair prices, Neon Ramen is a local favourite.
