If you missed Handmade, Highway 1 Street Party and Soulfor Wine, know this: Campbell Burton and Josh Murphy throw a good party with damn good wine.
The pair met at Moon Under Water, where Burton was sommelier up until two months ago, and where Murphy is still chef and co-owner. They bring their two areas of expertise together, add some good music, and magic happens. For this one they’ve also enlisted the help of Moon Under Water’s Drew Green.
“Josh and I talk a lot about what we like stylistically,” Burton says. “Not just food, but what we feel to be the most enjoyable times to have with your friends.

The past events, and now the upcoming Cool Down Summer Series, are their way of sharing this vibe with the general public. The four barbeque parties are on at the Abbotsford Convent once a month between now and March. For $39 a pop, you get a main meal cooked by a star chef, unlimited salad, and drinks at retail prices.
The McConnell Group’s John Paul Twomey (Cutler & Co) is up this Sunday. Giorgio de Maria and Mike Bennie, who founded Rootstock in Sydney, are on in January. February is Mitch Orr from Acme in Sydney, and Lee Ho Fook’s Victor Liong will conclude the series.
“We just want people to arrive when they want, sit there with mates, listen to music, drink nice chilled wine and really enjoy themselves,” Burton says. He’ll choose five natural whites and five natural reds for each event, all chilled to suit the weather.
