Perth’s cafe and coffee scene continues to grow in the CBD, and increasingly, into the suburbs. But further out in unfamiliar territory you may not know where to go. So we’ve done the work for you. Here’s six of the best coffee spots outside of Perth.
Brother of Mine, Baldivis
Yes, we know that Baldivis is technically in Perth. But unless you live a fair way south, you may not have visited Brother of Mine, a cafe that can hold its own among baristas further north. Coffee is roasted in-house and the extensive menu is supplemented by regularly changing specials – think pimped-out French toast, loaded grilled sangas and so on. It’s the perfect start to any southern road trip.

SUBSCRIBE NOWSouthern Roasting Co, Manjimup
Southern Roasting Co has long been one of Broadsheet’s favourite WA coffee roasters, and its coffee is yet to find a home in the city (although Truffle Kerfuffle attendees will likely have tried it). In 2018 it moved from a Pemberton pop-up to its impressive Manjimup cafe-roastery, where you can stop in for fresh coffee, toasties, cakes and more.
94-96 Giblett Street, Manjimup
Little Peach Espresso, Busselton
Like a lot of regional towns, coffee can be more miss than hit in Busselton if you don’t know where to go. Thankfully, Little Peach Espresso is always a safe bet. It’s a small coffee shop best described as quirky, but in this case, it means there’s plenty to look at while you wait. Or you can sit and play a board game. There are good toasties and a selection of hot chocolates, too. If you’re after a more sit-down meal experience, check out the impressively fitted-out Hummingbird just up the road.
30B Prince Street, Busselton

Benesse, Australind
While you may already be familiar with Benesse in Bunbury, you may not have heard of the Australind iteration. Offering the rare combination of great coffee, food and service in a light and comfortable venue, it’s one of Broadsheet’s favourite WA cafes. Instagrammers will love the communal, tiled centre table. The best option in the centre of Bunbury is The Townhouse, where the Mano a Mano coffee is great (and the philosophy is “death before decaf”).
The Australind Village, Shop 7/1 Mardo Avenue, Australind
Sidekick Cafe, Margaret River
There are a few options for decent coffee in Margaret River, although Sidekick is always Broadsheet’s first stop in town. Serving beans from Melbourne-based Dukes Coffee, there’s everything on offer from filter to cold brew. You’ll also get a much better cup from the local Yahava than at the Swan Valley outpost.
5/110 Bussell Highway, Margaret River
Quiet Life Specialty Coffee, Geraldton
This list has focussed on southern venues, but there’s still hope when heading north. Quiet Life in Geraldton serves Micrology coffee in all its forms, staying true to its “specialty coffee” moniker. Breakfast and lunch options range from healthy bowls, to indulgent cakes and a classic bacon and eggs on brioche. Keep an eye out for their burger specials, too.
