Clint Nolan picks a theme and he really goes for it. His Northbridge stable includes the basement dive-bar Joe’s Juice Joint that’s 100 per cent grungy rock’n’roll, and the password-protected speakeasy Sneaky Tony’s. Now there’s Alabama Song, and as the name suggests, you’re going Deep South.

The dimly lit room is a taxidermist’s dream. Moose heads and large antlers adorn the walls, and Americana paraphernalia is strewn throughout – a Route 66 sign, flags and saloon bar photos. A small stage, where DJs spin vinyl and live bands belt out rockabilly tunes, is enclosed in a cage à la The Blues Brothers.

The attention to detail extends to the passionate and knowledgeable, beer-slingin’ bar staff who can help you choose a drink from the 130 rye whiskies and bourbons.

Canned beers are delivered to you straight out of the esky. The staff don’t mind a chat and want you to leave a little more educated in the art of bourbon drinking. There's also a late-night kitchen serving diner staples such as a cheeseburger and fried chicken.
