After a half-decade feeding guests at W Brisbane, the team behind Three Blue Ducks Brisbane has announced that, come June, it will be waddling on.
Three Blue Ducks, the relaxed modern-Australian eatery from Darren Robertson, Andy Allen and Mark LaBrooy, has locations across the country – including in Sydney, Melbourne and regional NSW. W Brisbane was home to the group’s only Queensland venue, meaning devoted diners will have to travel to The Farm in Byron Bay for their Blue Ducks fix.
A joint statement released on Thursday afternoon announced that the businesses would be parting ways to “focus on other projects”. W Brisbane general manager Haldon Philp sang the trio’s praises, saying, “We have loved playing host to the Three Blue Ducks in Brisbane since opening in 2018 and celebrating their philosophy of honest, fresh and locally sourced cuisine. We thank them … and wish them well for their upcoming projects.”

experience that we’re grateful for and we’ll use the knowledge gained when planning our next hospitality project.”
Indeed, this may not be the last we see of the trio in the Sunshine State. “Brisbane has an incredible food scene that we feel connected to and want to stay a part of,” they said.
To celebrate the five years they've spent in Brisbane, W Brisbane and Three Blue Ducks will be introducing a “Best Of” menu during April and May to celebrate all the restaurant's most iconic dishes.
This is a doubly sad day for Brisbane’s hospitality scene, with the Lune Croissanterie team announcing that Butler, its moody South Brisbane wine bar, is shutting up shop after less than a year.
