Shane Delia – the Melbourne chef and restaurateur behind top Middle Eastern-inspired venues Maha
Maha East and
Maha Bar, as well as topnotch delivery service Providoor – is expanding his stable.

This November, Delia will unveil a new cocktail bar, called Jayda, next door to his original, flagship Maha restaurant, which he opened on Bond Street in 2008. Cocktails will be curated by Orlando Marzo, the 2018 World Class Bartender of the Year.

“The Bond Street end of Melbourne’s CBD is a little less inhabited than other areas, and Jayda plans to breathe new nightlife into the secluded laneway,” Delia said in a statement.

“We’re thinking of it as ‘Maha’s thirsty neighbour’, extending the great service and experience guests know and love next door.”

While details are scarce, Jayda – named after Delia’s 13-year-old daughter – is set to have the same sleek sophistication as Maha, but with a more snack-centric menu and a greater focus on cocktails, which will change with the seasons.

Jayda is slated to open at 19 Bond Street, Melbourne in November.
